Well(s) on the Way Part 2

Day 4, Inversnaid to Bridge of Orchy

Today was just stunning, its was just gorgeous

After a wee climb out of Crianlarich, and then a wee climb down, This was what I walked out of the woods to see

(If I ever win the lottery, I will beg the owners to let me run my therapy farm here)

Legend of the Lost sword, Ironic, as between here and a mile back I lost my phone, Maybe they shall rest together forever

One of my favourite resting places, what a view

And Home for the night, really cute and cosy, and again more Stunning views, what more could a Girl ask for

Day 5, Bridge of Orchy to Kinlochleven

(AKA the longest hardest Day)

21 miles is a long time to walk.

A little climb out of Bridge of Orchy, followed by a little climb down to Inverornan

Now, bearing in mind my guidebook called the next 10 miles the most remote and wild part of the trail, i was a little bit nervous, being phone less and all. But really, I doubt I would have had signal, and I did meet a few other hikers along the way. So all was well

Me trying to work out if this is the Devils Staircase

It was the Devils Staircase, hard enough on its own, after walking 13 miles already

Turns out the Ascent was nothing compared to the Descent. It just kept going and was so deceptive. I could see Kinlochleven, it was right there! And about 3 hours later I finally got there

A little rest after the longest day.

Day 6 Kinlochleven to Fort William

I cant believe Its my last day, or that I made it this far!

The word on the street was that the weather was going to break today, but when I got up it was dry, the occasional spit of rain

And then it rained

For About 6 hours

It Turns out that my waterproof jacket was not, in fact, waterproof. Although at least my trousers and pack cover were

But it was stunning the the way that the Highlands are

Last little bit of History

Ben Nevis looking very intimidating!

And then there was for William (Camera had to go away are a while due to the lack of waterproofness of my jacket) So no photos until the very end

And there we are, 6 days, stunning scenery and blisters on top of blisters. But I am so very happy that I made it, and so grateful for the beauty I found along the way

So the question is...

Where Next!

Thank you so much for reading

Well(s) On the Way

Day 1 Milngavie to Balmaha

After spending the day before the walk with my Big Sis, the walk took on another meaning for me. I was due to finish the day before my Birthday, which was also My Grans Birthday. Turns out the day I started was the anniversary of Andys passing. A bit of symatry to start with. Although picturing all 4 of my granparents cheering me on would ge me through the hard parts

So, weirdly I woke up at 05:30, eager and excited to walk! Although after caffinating and faffing around with my bag, i didnt actually leave until 06:30

Why so early I hear you cry. 1) 20 miles to be walked this day. 2) It was to be unusually hot and sunny!

And although I was doing this walk on my own, didn't mean I couldn't make friends

Or jump out of my skin while trying to remember if adders were poisonous (yes, yes they are!)

Conic Hill

And although the WHW doesn't take you to the top, a wee voice in the back of my head made me go up, and well, what can I say

Although coming down was a whole other story. It took a million years and lots of grumbling , but I made it down to Balmaha, and got settled into my room, with a gorgeous view, and didn't move for  very, long, time

Day 2 Balmaha To Inversnaid

So after a later start this morning due to having breakfast in the B&B, I spent the next few hours walking the shady and stunning banks of Loch Lomond

I then had a 3/4 mile strop up the hill, being tired, hot and grumpy (Although I would like to take this opportunity to thank the weather Gods, they have been so very good to me)

And, after showering, resting, eating and chilling, I took a stroll up to Rob Roys view point, to take a moment, and just be

Day 3 Inversnaid to Crianlarich

Today, as well a being eternally grateful to the weather Gods again, I would like to take a moment to thank my trekking poles. I would probably still be trying to get over the first 3 miles without them!

It all started innocently enough (although my guidebook did warn me the first 3 miles 'are the best and arguably hardest') But still, 3 miles of this

While Stunning and Rivendale like, were hard work and took me a long time. A close second to the descent of Conic hill in terms of hardness. But, 3 miles later...

This road, although very beautiful in its vastness, seemed to go on for a very long time. But, whenever it got hard, I thought of my cheerleaders, and everyone who has been so supportive, it made me so grateful for everyone and everything. So thank you

Although due to the heat and exposure I did think that I would like to live in this forest. It. Was. Bliss
