Small town, 6 hours South of Perth, although apparently its more like 4 and a half if you travel by car, rather than coach, and it reminded me strangely of Plymouth, as the town was on a hill, and the beaches/coastal Walk reminded me of Jennycliffe (don't know if you've been, although I know at least one of you have, you know who you are! I hope!)
Anyways, at the the of the hill, I found that all the shops/local businesses, seemed to be named Dogs Rock. Dogs rock vets seemed fair enough, just figured it was a vets, but then noticed the Dogs Rock car shop, Dogs Rock bakery etc, and then, when I saw this, it allll fell into place. . .
Its called, as you may well have guessed, the Dog Rock, entirely natural, made of granite, looks like a dog sniffing the air. I was hoping for a more interesting story for you, but sadly there isn't one!
The Following are just shots I took while going on a Coastal walk, which, as it happens is not a good time o place to forget to take your suncream!
Off the beaten track . . . .Just as well I'm not accident prone or clumsy with tendencies to trip over my own feet. . . .
As I said earlier, the scenery really did remind me of the English Southwest, well, apart from the occasional Lizard that is
The First one I saw i thought it was a Shadow of something in the sky, a quick inspection of the sky lead me to believe there was nothing there. So, I looked down to the ground again, in hopes that the heat wasn't causing me to hallucinate, but the black shape was still there. Second thought was maybe a snake, to which I then began to wonder if 1) If it was venomous, and 2) How fast it could catch and eat me. But no, twas a lizard, which as it turn out, ran in the opposite direction of me, so all was well. There were tons, both on the way there and on the return journey.
So, at the end of the trail, I came to the beach! Ironically enough for a coastal trail. Shade is good!
